I bought an HDTV and I mostly just play R-Type and Wii Golf on it, so I don't really feel the pain yet. (BTW, got my first Hole in One yesterday) Speaking of PS2, has DBBQC played the Odin Sphere yet? The Penny Arcade boys keep raving about it and it makes me want to play. Some sort of *sprite* based action-RPG...where you can plant sheep? I like sprites. |

DBBQC, Welcome to the wonderful world of HDTV, where HD looks OK, and everything else looks like jungle hell. B_W |

No windows. No Supreme Commander. My new 1080p HDTV makes all my PS2 games look like Doom res. But the assholes in Prey look good n' yucky! |

Here's hoping! Though, Blizzard's track record implies there'll be at least 3 years between the annoucement and the finished game on our hard drives. :( StarCraft 2 2k10! W00T! :) Has DBBQC played any of the Supreme Commander yet? |

if it was no clear before, i guess its clear now nintendo won this round of the console war. http://www.tgdaily.com/content/view/31809/118/ the debate is still out on blu-ray vs. xbox live though for where you might get your HD Movies from. last night i discovered that you can buy content over live, watch it, delete it, and then download and watch it again later. live just got a whole lot more attractive to me. |

Colbert on the Colbert Report had the best line ever. "Superman can't fly, he can only fly because Jesus is carrying him." followed by a picture of Jesus holding Superman in the air. |

| I'm not going to spend the money on badge and hotel this year for GenCon. Then Con itself has been mediocre for years, I only go to hang out with the Schmunks and everyone else. What I might do is go chill in Dayton over Labor Day instead, unless the Schmunks decide to come up here. | |
| Posted by: Peter | Posted on: Thursday April 26 2007 1:03pm |
| You could always try SDCC (San Diego Comic-Con). Although booking a hotel might be difficult at this point. You can get more info at: www.comic-con.org | |

Nearscape.. You'll like this.. The BBC got a tour of ILM's render farm: http://tinyurl.com/3d2zzm "We have a theoretical network capacity of 11.38 terabits per second," he adds. That means at any given second 11 trillion bits of data can be sent and exchanged over the network at LucasFilm. The company has the processing power equivalent to 10,000 home PCs at its disposal, rendering computer graphics, and powering the work of Industrial Light and Magic, LucasFilm and LucasArts - four times the power it had just three years ago. -A |

Oh I hear you Whisky, but Sony and Microsoft have repeatedly tried to dismiss the Wii as old tech. That's what I find so interesting, they're are all like "our new graphics are better" and the market firmly replies "we don't care". I never really thought Nintendo would be right. I wanted them to be right, but assumed consumers wouldn't get it. It's really good to be surprised! I mean, the PSP has the bigger screen, right? The Wii is just a GameCube on the inside, right? That's so not cool, man! ;) It also shows how silly all the Intertron noise about Sony being crushed financially by the PS3 really is, because you have to pretend that the PS2 doesn't exist. They're making more money now off the PS2 than they ever did when it was new; the hardware is finally profitable, and it still outsells every other non-portable consoles. And with BluRay holding it's own, something tells me Sony will be just fine, even if they never sell another PS3 ever. Most consumers just don't read web forums, so they never hear all the stupid shit Sony says. All they know is "I bought this one Sony TeeVee this one time, and gee-whiz, my NASCAR sure does look good on it." And they're right. I got that same TV now. ;) With apologies to NASCAR fans reading. :) |

Well, I wouldn't consider the DS 'last gen' since it's the current gen. The Wii is still crippled by it's lack of product. All in all I say the new gen is going pretty well, according to what I am seeing. ;) As far as the PS3 goes, the only person so far who has admitted owning one to me is a brain-dead AT&T installer. He asked me what I thought about my Wii, I told him I thought it was great, and he responded with, "I thought about getting one, but then I got the PS3." Then his eyes kinda crossed, and he trailed off. I responded with "Yeah?" waiting for some kind of statement like 'I really enjoy X game' or 'I like the product', but he just slumped in my chair and proceeded to watch his co-installers work for about half an hour. Kruger, this is an e-intervention. Sitting here in this internet group blog, I see a whole bunch of screen-names that love you like crazy, but they feel like they're losing you. They can't continue to enable your problem, they've been fighting your problem for some time, and now they're inviting you to join the fight. They've prepaired some letters they they would like to read to you. They're gonna say what they're gonna say, then you're gonna say what you're gonna say, then we're done. OK? Peter you start. B_W |

This is probably old news but I thought it was interesting. Console prices adjusted for inflation. http://cache.gizmodo.com/images/2006/05/relative.gif If you add the Wii in at $250 in 2006, it's not just fun, but it's also pretty much the cheapest console ever. Especially considering it comes with a game and a nunchuck accessory. It also got me thinking about the price of games. How everyone bitches when PS3 games cost $60 in 2007. But NES games were going for $40 in 1986. That's like $75 in today's buying power. Games are actually way behind inflation. |

Zwan and White Zombie. Together at last? I'll in Colorado for the annual family retreat thing. I'm looking forward to the beautiful mountains and the beautiful people! I'll have to find out if I'm close to this "Church" thing I've heard so much about. I'd be up for a Supreme Commander mini-LAN 1 or 2 weekends before or after Memorial Day. Or Civ4. Oh, and after I reinstalled Windows I was able to get Sacred running finally, and the patch from December seems to get rid of the CD check! I absolutely love the ambient chatter in the towns. There's some funny shit in there. |

ok, back from the ..... (fill in the blank if you dare) anyways, i have seen some recent talk about a lan party. I for one am not sure if lan gaming has changed much in the past few years. i am looking for something fresh, but if Big Whisky has found it, i am all about trying something new. the weekend of memorial day might work for me, but it seems like we might miss out on nearscapes's presence. i for one would rather be in Colorado that weekend. nearscape, what is the game plan for you out there? as far as what is fresh down here in the dark state, is azntv ( http://azntv.com/ ) this crazy internet TV thing from the folks that gave us skype ( http://www.joost.com/ ) and this reinvention of the classic lemonade stand game that we all played on the apple II ( http://www.insanecentral.com/arcade/game/22/Lemonade-stand.html ) if it were up to me, i would opt to try a game of moo, since i have never played. some wii, civ IV, maybe some classic apple II, and maybe even a certain super scope 6 action, if it will work on the LCD, since i think that tech is based on scan line interleave, and may not work on progressive style displays. i don't know, but i just seem to fall more and more into that casual gamer category now that i do not even have time for WoW. I am also looking forward to getting a bit father in trauma room, zelda, and oblivion, now that we are nearing the summer non game release season. |
