That new G5 iMac is a bit pricey compared to similar PCs, however, you're paying for the processor and Apple logo.. I wish they'd allow the clones again.. Now, if they'd make a G5 Powerbook, then we'll talk.

Whiskey... I've noticed a few people having Mac issues lately.. I had a preference crash and a friend lost her whole HD.

Dream... Clerks 2!!!!!!! Anyone know where I can get a hold of Kevin Smith? I'm sure he's gonna need a PA or 2 ;)

Nearscape... How come my last post got eaten? There was more to it (including a link) when I first posted it (and refreshed to check it) Did I uncover a bug?

So, was it like "Beep beep beep beep beep" and then, like, half of your paper was gone and you were like.... ummm? Did it devour your paper? Was it a really good paper? And did you have to write it again and have to do it really fast and then it wasn't as good? That's kind of... a bummer.

Well, the Mac gods have heard my lamenting, and struck me down! My G4 just crashed hard and lost my hours work! This never happened, not once before! How could I have been so foolish and committed the sin of hubris against the most vengeful force in the universe, the Communist Apple Computer!

I blame Adam for spying! Spy! Spy!

Alas! I am ruined!!! Alas!

Here's their pricepoint:
$1,499.00
1.8ghz Power PC
600mhz frontside
256 mb DDR400
NVIDIA FX5200 64
80GB SATA
Superdrive

Sorry Apple, but I can get a kicking Compaq laptop for those rates that blowes that to heck, or I could build a desktop to beat the band. Unimpressive. If they were like $600, like the original iMac I might get scared. (at least I thought that's what they were)

So, it's a laptop, without the laptop? Why not just get a laptop? (I am sure they have a pretty good pricepoint...) Where are the eight heat pipes and liquid cooling systems? And why the FU*K are they unveiling it in FRANCE?!?!?! Screw them. They suck.

I'll be interesting to see if this thing cooks itself. if the G5 can run in an enclosure like this, then why is my PowerMac as big as a house? if it works, though, very impressive. you don't even need an external AC adaptor.

In the event anyone wanted to buy "Unfit for Command", I suggest you do so from someone other than and not affiliated with Amazon.com:

Important note from Amazon.com: We've decided to suspend our normal customer review policies and rules for this title. For example, we usually prohibit ad hominem attacks. That policy in particular seems to be incompatible with presidential election year politics. Therefore, short of obscenities, reviews on this book are now a free-for-all. We take no responsibility for the following discussion. Aren't presidential election years great? Have fun!

They haven't done this for any other book on their site.

As of now, there has to be at least 2 periods in a link for it to automate. for example, quicktime.apple.com works without http or www. I'll remove that limitation next time around, but I put it in there to prevent invalid links from appearing when someone forgets to put a space between 2 sentences. hey, it's still easier than adding or some crap all the time.

I still have to stop myself from doing or the HTML a tags. The . idea works. I didn't know that you actually had to have the 2 .s, though. An alternate solution, if you're worried about the spacing issue using . would be to require URLs to start with That way, you still don't have to use a tag, and you can safely make a typo and not worry about it.

In an odd twist of fate...the internet at Marquette did go down...but only for about 3 hours (standard daily outage as ITS tries to fix their ailing servers with bubblegum and banana peels. Had this been a serious problem, the aforementioned ITS department would resort to chants and voodoo curses!

No, No, No.. It's duct tape and super glue. They also wouldn't have gone to voodoo curses, there's a resident SJ in the department.

It is only fair that the republicans get their shot in. My concern is though that it won't be as polished or hit as many screens as 9/11 did.

the hypocritical liberal response will no doubt be amusing for months. let all postulation on the line between "documentary" and "propaganda" begin anew, only this time everyone switch sides! Red White and Blue Productions? This election just got more interesting. Next up: "The Eternal Bush". Up for it, Moore? Or are you still busy counting all that evil American $$$?

I've found a place on the Internet where my strict Constitutionalism has branded me a "Leftist." Oh glorious day!

Maybe I should just join up with a monistary or something since poverty and I seem to be inseperable. (Turned down for yet another job. The solid interview no less.)
:(

On the bright side "monistary" is close enough to "Army" that I can keep my mind busy with a parody when I need to take a break from fighting MFC (I'm using it to create the gui for the server in my game. And MFC is for pain. Although you can have some fun with it too.)

Peter,
You're going to have to give me a Lithuanian history lesson, because I didn't learn anything about them in any history class ever. I know absolutely nothing about the struggle of Lithuania against the USSR. So, whatever venue you choose to impart some knowledge, I will be in the front row.
--
As far as the basketball is concerned, this doesn't surprise me at all. You've got a team (Team USA) that is mostly contrived of massive egos brought together to play a style of basketball they are not used to. This would involve them 1. having to be humble, and 2. having to actually try. Both seem unlikely from the start, and since their is little prestige in this for them, it is not looking like much will change. (because of course, one golden medallion isn't enough 'bling' for these efforts)

Later,

Posted by: Peter Posted on: Monday August 23 2004 8:44pm
To Adam: Is there any doubt on which of the two to bet on? Need I remind you: Lithuania beat Puerto Rico 98 to 90. Lithuania has won the bronze medal in basketball for the past three olympics and are desperately seeking gold (it would greatly help efforts to reconstruct the country after decades of Soviet occupation).

It is only through the blood of my people that your lands were kept free....that and the military arms race between the U.S. and the Soviets which forced economic sanctions and bankrupcy upon the Soviet army thereby allowing Lithuania to reclaim its independence...but like I said, it is mostly through the blood of my people that your lands were kept free. So cheer not for the tyrants of basketball (Team USA) who already posess lucrative NBA contracts, rather stand up and cheer on the team with spirit (and some lucrative NBA and European league contracts).

GO THERE, there is an introduction to genrees with historical interludes, highly reccomended, plus free mp3 music legally.

Yes! OS-X port of a game!

-A

Posted by: Dream BBQ Child Posted on: Monday August 23 2004 12:22pm
Speaking of gaming, after taking a break from my game development to work on a kanji program in C#, I'm kicking that back up again. The extra "good" news is I'm starting the port of the client to OS X so I can start to figure out my network code cause it doesn't look like I'll be getting the $$$ to build another PC soon. (Still don't know about the last interview I had in Chicago. Despite the fact I nailed it-- I don't beleive in getting one's hopes up.)

I just gotta wait now for the 300+ meg download of Xcode 1.5 to download (I'm at school). At least developing on the Mac I'll have a better IDE than I'm working with on the PC. Fwee!

Posted by: nearscape Posted on: Monday August 23 2004 11:01am
I will do the same if still applicable. MSN has made promises about this and that, but thus far taken no action, and I find it quite rediculous that I'm still waiting for them to arrive in this century.

I suspect there may be a few souls here who care...I was lucky enough to play Tribes: Vengeance this weekend at The Fabulous GenCon Experience. Obviously, there were limitations imposed, so I'll get those out of the way first. The most annoying was, being stuck underground by the map, I could not see the two things I most wanted: whether outdoor skiing feels right in the new engine, and whether the terrain has the rediculous boundaries present in pretty much all other FPS games except Delta Force. I'm not really worried about the latter, since there are numerous videos available that show the terrain to be sufficient (if not limitless like Tribes 2 / DF).

As far as combat, I was fighting bots in a single-player segment. The weapons all felt right (and cooler), although the grenade launcher is hard to test inside. Since it's primary use in the past has been to stop cappers mid-ski, we'll just have to wait and see. There is a much smoother way to switch weapons mid-field. Things look great, the physics are fun, the jump-jetting works properly. I fought some turrets, and they were harder than T1 but easier than T2, so that seems appropriate. The bots fought as if they were still in UT, though. Smart on the ground, not unreasonably accurate, good weapon switching mid-fight, but they didn't use the z-axis much (they didn't fly over obstacles, they prefer to walk around them on the ground). So, there's a concern for the AI, but it's still better than anything Tribes has had in the past. Also, there might be a reason for the lack of jetting built into the single-player storyline on the level I played. They may be much better on proper outdoor, multiplayer maps.

I think it's gonna be just fine. It runs a lot better than Doom 3, that's for sure. You can see things, things are nice and big, etc. They put a lot into the single player. There are allied characters, they talk to each other and to you, the maps allow alternate routes. So all I really want to know now is how big the multiplayer can be, can you fill it in with worthwhile bots, and can you actually stop a capper who's good with the grappling hook. In any case I'm sure it will work at LAN parties better than Doom 3, maybe better than Joint Operations.

Posted by: Peter Posted on: Monday August 23 2004 9:58am
Interesting, isn't it? The two teams to beat the U.S. basketball team during these games so far have been Lithuania and Puerto Rico.... I think Chico and I may have had a part in this. Now be wary of the ultimate game: Lithuania versus Puerto Rico for the Gold Medal!!! (Why do I fear someone may leave the Pulgari Trap based on the outcome of this game????)

support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=842242

Oh, and they stopped it's release. What I find most interesting is the list of games that 'stop working'. They all seem pretty old to me. They say the older UT's won't work, but what about 2k4? Did they test it? How can they release a list of programs that don't work without a list of programs that do? Otherwise they are making the statement that, 'only these programs don't work' when they have clearly not tested everything that exists! I want to see ALL the programs they tested, so that when it doesn't work I know they haven't even tried it yet!

Oh well, change is painful.

From a purely film lover point of view I ask: WHO THE HELL WOULD WANT TO BUY A COPY OF FAHRENHEIT 9/11? Okay, maybe some schools talking about propaganda. Still in less than a year I doubt that many people will care that it was ever made. The thing does NOT have the shelf life of a twinkee. More like a bottle of milk that is already sharing shelf space with bottles of milk with a later date.

But I digress...

Must watch Conan tomorrow (12th) cause the stuff he'll be selling in loud sweaters will likely be worth buying. Even though I can't right now. But maybe-- soon.

Also XML good. XSL good. C# good. .NET good, JB I recall you not wanting to put the framework on your machine. It's okay. And remember, that's coming from a Mac guy.

if you're thinking of upgrading (and it sounds like you should be), give her a read. While we're mentioning Opterons, Windows now supports (NX?) AMD64 security features which break buffer-overrun hacks. Although if you've got a bunch of power apps you're depending on, you might want to wait a bit for some more thorough compatibility testing. I'll think I'll take a week or two and try and get a verdict from Discreet myself, Whiskey should probably make sure the Matrox RTX will still work before you take the plunge, it sounds like they changed a lot of IO type shit.

I don't know if I like that too much. Lucas using powerful AMD processors to fix his stupid mistakes, facilitate LAZY production, and also facilitate the widening of his ass and the shrinking of his neck.

Don't do it AMD, don't do it!
D.R.

P.S. Well, I guess it's a testament to the quality of AMD's product. Intel couldn't provide a solution powerful enough to fix all of his stupid problems. It's too bad AMD can't make a processor powerful enough to fix his plot lines...unless...

Unfortunately I can't comment on Doom III, but from what I've been hearing, lots of people agree with you, Whisky. What I can comment on is the single player TA. I'm doing the Core Contingency missions (where your goal is to collapse the galaxy), and I understand why people don't play the single player missions. The first three missions are IDENTICAL. You have the exact same units available, your opponent has the exact same units available, you have the exact same mission goals, and the terrain is almost exactly the same (they're all water maps, so not much to do with it). The primary difference? You start in a different corner! Talk about half assed!

DBBQC,
Sorry to hear you are having such a depressing run of it. If you are looking for a change of scenery, I just finished with a houseguest for a week (Mr. Barbiaux) and am fully set up. If you would like to come down for a week, I have a workstation space open and everything.

Everyone,
Ok, I am not dissapointed about Doom3 because it's unoriginal or becasue it doesn't 'thrill' me, I am dissapointed becasue it was supposed to be a quality game, and it just isn't. When I am playing UT, painkiller, the original Half Life, or a novalogic game, I feel a sence of excitement in that the engine keeps me playing, not the plot or the graphics. I can never get enough of sticking zombies to the wall in painkiller, rocking out in UT, or cowering in a corner pissing myself in Joint Operations, and while doom looks good, it doesn't play good. Normaly I feel bored while playing, but then when they decide to throw the kitchen sink at me, I are overwhelmed. (and want to stop playing) Not ideal. They do have some pretty graphics, but it really doesn't feel like a five year project. It feels rushed and underachieved, and all this Doom3 penis waving I am seeing around the net is really starting to bother me. It really isn't all that great. End of story.

Now for better topics. Joint Operations has some different options for me to relay to you all. (ok, this will mostly interest Nearscape, but it really is for everyone) Ok, no, you cannot fill the game out with bots. Yes, we can play a just LAN game. Yes, there are maps that will accomodate us. (and much much bigger ones, but that is another story) Now for the interesting part, they do have Cooperatve missions called "Operations" which pit humans against the computer in a 'complete objectives' kind of situation. This I believe can be enjoyed with just a few people. (I played one last night by myself and it was pretty fun) So that's another option to consider.

Finally, comming out in the next month is: Burnout 3 (YAY!) and Half-Life 2 (---). Prepair for some more serious ranting people, I can feel it coming on.

Alright that should cover it. Later Folks.

I never dug his music much but I'm bummed to learn that Rick James died. Dood was pretty young too.

Additinally scary, I was watching the tube and I saw Richard Biggs playing on a doctor on some show that was current last season and that was just flippin' errie.

Death sucks.

i also have doom 3, the retail version, as opposed from the "online" version. The game runs greate on my system, we are running at 1024x768, and that is a screen problem, not a video card problem. the graphics card that i am using is my 18 month old gefoce fx 5900 ultra. there are a couple of points where it cuchunks, but that is a bug in the nvidia drivers that has been noted and there is a temp fix for it. the bug relates to dual display configurations.

Doom looks great and for a demo of a new graphics engine, it is a great game, the plot, may not be original, but then what plot is, once the bible was written all plots in the universe have been discovered and there are no new ones any ways. I dont see the point in talking about how all scifi is the same nor do i see the point in discussing how tikeshi manages to find a way to kill himself in everyfilm that he makes. so i say to tall of those who like good graphics, a moderate scare, and scifi to follow me.

if you are looking for rocket science, go to mit and join nasa. Otherwise enjoy such plesantries as the new ID game, Doom 3. if you are looking for plot, play a different game, that doesnt exist yet, advent rising.

well, if bosar is the ghost of lan past and dave is the ghost of lan present, then let me be the ghost of lan future.

I look forward to a world, when mpc have their own interests at stake and we much convince them otherwise as a group, with out the need soley for weapons, but our witts too. A world where men are men and people are well simulated and the death of a sim matters, where we do not have infinite lives.

Posted by: nearscape Posted on: Friday August 6 2004 5:51pm
sounds pretty spiffy! i think i'm sold (unlike id and Valve, I already trust Novalogic to put out a fun game). for LAN interests:
1) can you use bots to fill in a game?
2) do you have to play on Novaworld (does it allow LAN only)?
3) if it does, do you need CD keys for LAN gaming (the older delta force games didn't require CDs for LAN)

also upon further Doom 3 inspection, I have concluded that operating the computer panels in the game is significantly more fun than the actual combat.

on the subject of creativity in FPS games, that "plot" actually goes back much further. gather round kids, it's time to reminisce!
when I first played Half-Life, I remember thinking how much was the same as Corridor 7. Corridor 7 was perhaps the first licensed id-engine game, either that or Blake Stone. It used a modified Wolfenstein engine, before the Doom or Build engines were prevalent. so in a way, it is the original sci-fi fps plot that they've basically been recycling ever since. you're tooling around with some scientists on a shady research base, they open a portal, baddies pour through. you shoot 'em, then you shoot some more, eventually traveling to the source dimension, and shoot the rest.

now that i think about it, Corridor 7 was the first LAN fps game for me! Wolf didn't have multi, Doom multi was stupid, and ROTT and Duke3d weren't out yet. Corr7 though, that actually had some innovation. You could play as any of the aliens in the game, some of which had special weapons. One of them could camoflage himself as a piece of scenery to hide (which with those sprite graphics, was actually quite effective).

ahh, memoreeeeees....

damnit, I'm gonna schedule a retro LAN yet. who's with me? Dukematch anyone?

I've wanted to play Joint Operations for a while now just so I could go ga ga over their networking code.

Posted by: Big_Whisky Posted on: Friday August 6 2004 10:39am
Everyone, (especially nearscape)
I think I have found a winner here folks. After the somewhat disappointing performance of Doom 3, (which more of which will be spoke of later) I took that '$$$' out of my hip pocket, and bought a fine fine game. This is the game of which I have previously spoken, "Joint Operations". Think of it in this way, it is a combo of everything good about a Delta Force game, and everything good about Tribes, all in one neat package. (Nearscape, you better put on the rubber pants for this one.) The levels are massive, some 60km wide, the weapons are plentiful (35 to be exact) the character classes are in depth, the vehicles are also plentiful (too many to count at this point) oh, and you can fly the helicopters without your pilot's license.
The maps are well thought out, and in order to traverse them you need to do some thinking. (or what I always do, some drinking) Once you get to one of many enemy bases on each map, you have to be careful, because you really don't want to die. (but if you do it's OK, you just hop into the nearest chopper and you're on your way!) (oh, and yes, you actually drive and shoot down the vehicles, that's very nice too, but I won't get into that)
Now for the most important part, the combat system is ~tight~, and the weapons quick, so there's no guesswork. (my biggest problem with tribes, but that's just me) This is possible because the network code is also ~tight~, (they claim it's designed to be smooth on a 56k modem). I played in a net game last night with over 100 people, and that was truly an experience!
So in conclusion, if you've got some of this ~$$$~, get some of this => "Joint Operations" from Novalogic. It could be the next LAN buster!

Now for more doom 3. I played last eve, and have concluded one thing, it's not really a re-telling of Doom, it's really a re-telling of HALF-LIFE. The plot is almost identical. New guy comes to strange place, walks around meeting people, some scientific thing goes wrong, aliens invade, people are both taken to fight for the aliens and you fight the aliens themselves. Shit happens, you end up in a crazy world, and you fight more. There is some conspiracy besides the imminent danger, and you are the only one who can effectively fight against anything. Wow, that's really stupid. If someone tells me 'it's time to choose' at the end of this, I am going to be sick. So, no need to worry about half-life2, we already have it.

Buy Joint Operations.

Greetings,
Well, schools out, and doom 3 looks pretty good. I am running it on Low/800x600 and it looks pretty good. (better than anything else I have seen) That's about where the joy of Doom 3 runs out. The combat is pretty stiff, the weapons unimaginatve and stoicly portrayed (I think I got more of a thrill from shooting the shotgun in Doom 1) and the character phycics/enemy damage physics/animation is almost laughable. I shoot someone in the head, and they grunt. Yeah. Shoot um again and their body EXPLODES! Gotta get those models out of there, can't have that overhead.
One thing I did think was hot was the 'when you're getting shot' animation, that's pretty disorienting. The flat pannels everywhere is pretty cool too.

But seriously, why did they bother? Was this story so great they just had to re-tell it in a more stoggey way? I got more chills from my grocer's freezer, and that's in the 'scary' parts. At least in the o-riginal it was o-riginal.

And yes, this thing is a BITCH to run. FarCry (yes I do own it) runs better, looks worse. My barton is sweating when I look around and my videocard, well, we won't get into that. In low/800x600 it runs fast, but I don't have this computer to play a game in low/800x600. And that four player deathmatch, wow, they really took it to the next level.

Alright folks, in my humble opinion, put this -$$$- back in the hip pocket. Then play some more UT, and do something productive with your life.

Later Gs

For gits and shiggles I'm trying to beat the TA single player campaign. I have managed to get past that stage where the tiny island you spawn on is shelled outside the range of your guns. Anyway, I'm making use of the free strategy guide that came bundles with it, and here's some of the things that I've learned:

If the book says "the Big Bertha won't fire at you" it will.
If the book says "enemy units will be trapped behind a natural barrier" then they'll easily find a way to overrun your base.
If the book says "Arm forces will use their subs defensively" expect the waters to be crawling with Piranahs just ten feet from your shore.
If the book says "enemy ground forces will leave you alone" that means you're going to be fighting off wave after wave of tanks and artilery k-bots.
If the book says "enemy forces will concentrate their fire on your Commander" they will shoot at everything BUT your commander.

Expect it to leave out the following pertinent information:
-The mission takes place on a planet where meteor storms periodically trash everything on the map; if you have something that you need to capture, do so quickly.
-You only need to destroy certain units for the mission to be over; assaulting that heavily defended island is completely unnecessary, go around it.
-Cruisers, Rocket Launchers, and Missile K-Bots are not the solution to all your problems.
-You can build aircraft. Many types of aircraft are effective at killing things. Often, aircraft are a far better choice than Cruisers, Rocket Launchers, or Missile K-Bots.
-Torpedo Bombers exist.

Well, enough of my complaining.

Posted by: nearscape Posted on: Wednesday August 4 2004 5:43pm
i thought a third party was already developing a Quake 4 using this engine? i'm sure it could be overcome using (adaptive?) character models that degraded quickly as they got further away. The Tribes 3 folks ran into similar problems a while back, trying to fit massive Tribes gameplay (terrains without boundaries, 32-64 players per game commonplace) into Unreal 2 tech, which was originally built for indoor deathmatch with around 16 players tops. we should be seeing the results of that effort within the month, wonder if they pulled it off.

Posted by: CrowScape Posted on: Wednesday August 4 2004 4:57pm
Don't hold your breath. The four player limitation is, supposidly, due to current graphics hardware being unable to support any more. If true, it's not simple developer laziness that can be picked up by someone else.

Posted by: nearscape Posted on: Wednesday August 4 2004 4:23pm
that's reasonable, but i still don't think i'm going to reopen the HTML can of worms any time soon.

I forgot to mention something about performance in Doom 3, which was one of the reasons I didn't buy it on opening day. but from what I've seen, it's not nearly as bad as many have claimed (not sure what THG was on when they made such dire prognostications). You don't need a 6800 or an AthlonFX to play it, it's actually quite reasonable. Tycho at Penny Arcade says it runs better than FarCry (i defer because I've never played FarCry, but it seems to be the only graphical competitor). There are 4 basic settings, low-med-high-ultra for textures, and high runs pretty damn well. Ultra causes unacceptible lag when a creature appears (and i should emphasize appear), but high still looks great. you'd need a projector with far more resolution than mine to appreciate ultra anyway. the power of the engine is not in the textures anyway, remember these are id artists we're talking about. they've transitioned from all brown to all gray. yay. the specular and bump mapping has not progressed much from Unreal 2.

no, the nifty factor comes from the lighting, which doesn't seem to bog the computer down much, surprisingly enough. yes, there are moving lights, and yes, there are dynamic reflections. And i believe they're using normal mapping to create smooth shadows on the characters, which looks pretty nice (a person's nose can cast a slight shadow on their cheek, for example). so far fluids, fogs, and other particle-based effects have been sub-UT, but we've only played 3 levels. The highlight is definitely the refraction effects that occur when looking through glass, or through heat. very slick.

so if anyone is considering it, if you've got 128 on your video and a processor less than 2 years old, you should be able to enjoy the single player. you don't need the high framerates like you do in UT for a single player campaign, anyway. most of the time you're only fighting one creature at a time it seems. i think i'll be satisfied watching Intrigue play it, at least until a multiplayer expansion or mod comes out. 4 player deathmatch? why bother?

Posted by: CrowScape Posted on: Wednesday August 4 2004 1:02pm
NearScape, remember when I was trying to give DBBQChild that HTML/CSS code? Yeah, that's a good example of where preview would have been useful.

Posted by: Big_Whisky Posted on: Wednesday August 4 2004 10:58am
Well, I am both impressed and unimpressed then. (with Doom 3) I was hoping for some hardcore Multiplayer action! Oh well, I am so 'leet' (my new favorite word) i've got the copy that was buried, so little of this '$$$' will need to be used for now. ;) I will give a full report on my Doom 3 feelings, on the morrow.

Now for more LAN friendly action:
I just read about a game called 'Joint Operations', which currently boasts the largest LAN participation level, in a single play. (105 players in one multiplayer LAN game) It strikes me as 'Black Hawk Down' (from the same company, Novalogic) without the pesky peskyness. (not being able to use the vehicles, no falling dammage etc.)

So since I just so happen to have some more of this $$$ I think I might just check it out and give you all a full report.

Conclusion:
Doom 3 - BOO!!!
$$$ - YEAH!!!
Novalogic - Undecided :

Posted by: nearscape Posted on: Wednesday August 4 2004 10:38am
ok, i'm honestly confused. other than seeing if links work, which hasn't been a problem since 1.5, what is the point of a preview? why not just read the box *before* you hit submit? it says the same thing as your post (that's the secret). it's not like typos are created (by magicks!) on an interdimensional plane, somewhere between the form and the forum. i call bullshit on the preview users, and I suspect if I were to implement one, there'd still be plenty of oops. if we're going to whine, let's whine about something useful, like being able to edit posts. but i guess now i'll have to add preview to prove it. Maybe i'm wrong, maybe it *will* solve world hunger.

Intrigue got that doom3 thingie, and it's pretty immersive, it's actually more like System Shock or a console game than any id game. pretty scripted and linear, zero LAN potential, but great for turning off the lights, turning on the projector, and getting creeped out. oh, and there's this great powerup that Whiskey should appreciate, which i'll call "The Soul of Trent".

No matter what you think of their message, you do have to agree that these guys have balls. Also, the founders of the group seem to enjoy the old series "V", and that makes them okay in my book.
