I plan on using the pool at some point over the weekend. If any LAN guests are interested, bring a suit.

I didn't mention anything to him. I think he might have a class this Saturday (Technically, he hasn't graduated yet. He has this wierd Saturday class). Thought about mentioning it to Bob though.

Hmm... I wonder if I should try to play UT2K4 using a Wacom tablet at the LAN... could be entertaining... BTW: Amazon still says "shipping soon" even though it's been here for a whole day now ^_^.

Justin, chances are strong now that I will bring my mighty wimpy PeeCee down to the LAN. That way, if I don't want to play a given game I can play developer, developer, devloper, developer.

J3 shold be J#. Ha!

Posted by: Dream BBQ Child Posted on: Wednesday May 26 2004 9:51am
For a good time install the .NET SDK, Platform SDK, and the Visual C++ tools for the STL. Oh, and when you do the install you have to only have dial-up at home and your only high-speed connection is 10 miles away. :)

But as I can get the software I'm not too annoyied. And it is cool that MS gives this stuff away. I can build visual studio code (C, c++, VB, C#, J3 (Ha!)) without a IDE. TEXTPAD FOREVER! Yeah, I don't have automatic code completion but given that IDE's love to break on me and I have the patience to work on the command line, I don't care.

In other good news, I wrote my own linked list for my Office Space 2k3 game so the missing STL library didn't slow me down. As such I figured out how to make OpenGL use my video card. Once that was done, it was like opening the door to a whole-- new-- world. Suddenly my "game" was like Space War running on some GHZ machine. :) Although texturing doesn't work cause borland is for sucks and I didn't get to converting that to Visual Studio yet.

Bummer about Richard Biggs. Scary how you can just GO like that. But I suppose it's better than a long drawn out death. Still, dude was young.

What happened to Richard Biggs? Did he pass away? If so that is very unfortunate...

***

Greetings all,
Yesterday, I tasted the LAN action...and it was good. This shall prove to be the greatest of all LAN events, in both scope and content. (alcohol content that is...) We shall 'rock' this proverbial cave, and show everyone in this great wide world to what heights we can take this "LAN Event" that so many are ignorant of. Any way you look at it: four days, 96 hours, 5,760 minutes, or 345,600 seconds of pure juicy LAN gaming bliss. Does it really get much better? Does it? I don't think so.
So therefore let us rest both our bodies and our spirits in the knowledge that we shall soon be engaged in the most blissful enterprise a group of stalwart young men can forthwith participate. Indeed.

Let it come forth posthaste!

Garn,

Missed the schedule posting. Disregard my inquiry toward such. Later.

Posted by: Folkken Posted on: Sunday May 23 2004 11:51am
Hey guys,

When exactly is the old LAN going to occur and what is the itenary? So far it seems like some people will be starting some gaming action on Thursday night. I obviously cannot attend Friday during the day, so watch for my coming Friday night. BTW, isn't memorial day Monday, May 31st? Just checking.

I'm going to be spending some time this week outfitting my rig with possibility a new router and a new NIC. This isn't from an upgrade perspective, rather an emergency repair generated from a good ol' transmission line transient courtesy of everyone's favorite charge, Mr. Lightning. Krueger, got any Gigabit NIC vendors that come to mind? A quick search at Beast Buy came up empty on Saturday. Later All,

Now... where are my pants?

We are very disturbed at some statements we have noted on this Blog. In order to prevent any sanctions, you should and must RECANT all of your statements against the finest and most venerable of all computer hardware, the floppy drive.

We shall expect your retraction by morning.

My veneralble PIII 550 was way ahead of you there, Intrigue. Since the day I recieved it the Dell's floppy drive has been happily destroying any and all floppy media that it can get it's grubby magnets on, waging its own kind of format genocide. Unfortunately if my BIOS dies I don't think I have any choice with the old hardware on this thing; I don't think it works with those BIOS-aware thumbdrives.

Posted by: Intrigue Posted on: Thursday May 20 2004 4:55pm
Just as martin luther posted his little note to the cathlic church, i post a reformation to the makers of floppydrives.

The FLOPPY DRIVE IS DEAD TO ME NOW AND FOREVER!!!!!!!

Ok, now that i gone beyond sweeting balls and gone to shitting balls with JB's last bios up grade, i have finnially had it with floppy drives forgetting very importnat "bits" of "bytes" of information. This last install of an updated bios failed after the .bin file was incorrectly read off of a floppy disk. To fix the failed flash, i needed to pry vantus's bios while the computer was off, load a crap version of dos on FX-51 through a USB flash reader, and pop the bios from FX-51 with the system live and running. Next i needed to use "gigabytes" internal flash program that i found on a hackers site, to load the wrong bios on my fx51, while JB's Vantus flash rom resided in my machine. I then had to pop the bios agian and transport it back to Vantus, where we were lucky enough that the whole process worked.

Because of this, i have chosen was seems to be a peice of technology that should kill the floppy once and for all. The device is from Addonics and it makes flash disks look like a removable harddrive/ CD rom. In theory, this can even be used on old bioses. There are two useful varities of the drive, one with goodies( CompactFlash I/II, MicroDrive, Secure Digital Card/Multimedia Card, Memory stick, SmartMedia, PCMCIA hard drive, ATA Flash readers are included), and one without the readers, you must have the readers to read all of the flash varities otherwise the drive will only read PCMCIA harddrives for laptops. If this works after testing, i will be including one of these on ever computer that i build!!!

this one is found and newegg and it comes with all of the goodies you need
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-174-501&depa=0

these two are cheaper and only come with the drive enclosure, no goodies included only get one of these after you have one with all of the goodies.

I hope you too can join me in the fight agianst floppy drives!!!

ah, good morning. It seems like Whiskey is getting beat down (down, into the ground) even worse than I am, but it sure is comforting to know that another event is rapidly approaching. Soon, soon now, all the troubles of the world will seem far, far away.

I'm getting more excited than usual. There have been a slew of important releases since I've been away, expecially in the UT2004 arena. The first official patch is out, the Community Bonus Pack is due out tonight, Fraghouse Invasion 2004 v2.0 is out, and Unreal Annihilation is set to be released on the eve of the LAN! I do say, it is getting hot in here.

Also, Intrigue and Whiskey have informed me that Alien Vs. Predator 2 is swell, and I'm inclined to believe that since I've heard it before from reputable sources out on Inter-Web. So that may be squeezing itself onto the schedule.

Setup/Initialization is still set for Thursday, let's say around 6. Please let me know if you're planning on attending, and for how long. Vantus 1.5 has been revived as of last night, after a near-fatal BIOS flash failure, a CPU fan failure, a hard drive swap, and a very cranky integrated NIC. But things seem to be going much smoother now, so I should be installing all the games tonight and should be ready to serve. The BIOS update allowed me to get my 4th gig of memory working, so I'm going to run some experiments and see if I can trick Windows XP-32 into properly distributing it. As I understand it, no single app can use more than 2 gigs, but I wonder if running the dedicated UT2004 server on one processor / 2 gigs and running the full client on the second processor / 2 gigs is feasible. Sounds like a bloody adventure! I can't wait.

I even heard the 'orgasm cake' makes a short tour de force appearance.

Surfing on lava? WTF? Did Lucas hand over directing duties to that putz Joel Schumacher? But this may be okay cause the Sun is tabloid right? Please tell me it's a tabloid? Since the abomination of Episode I I've been thinking that Ep III could redeem all. But, surfing on lava? That alone. No.

But at least it's not an S&M club.

Justin forgot to give the "Justin will love the people's J-Pop" pin to Justin to give to Justin when Justin next saw Justin, so Justin will have to give Justin to Justin at the next LAN. HOLY SHIT! Alex Proyas is directing I, Robot? Don't know how that one slipped past me. I've definitely been working too much.

Is it a 64MB card, 'cause I have a 32MB one, it's just I don't know who made it. It also has the bad habit of severley messing up the display if I play Tribes 2, let the monitor go to sleep, and then wake it up, so I've gotten into the habit of just restarting the computer every time I exit T2.

I know how to get in the vicinity of Mitsuwa from my place, so I don't think that will be much of a problem. Getting to Mitsuwa from the Con should also not be much of a problem. Last year at the Con I heard hints of weekend parking passes, which would make hitting Mitsuwa for lunch on Saturday possible. We'll hash out the plans for Mitsuwa on Friday when we know what's going on.

In sadder news it seems Dave may not be attending thanks to some extended editing Friday, possibly spilling into Saturday.

re RSS...i was hoping to get a little work done on the old script once I left MATA, but then some shots came in from LA and that was the end of that. So it's still pretty ugly in there. lots of commented-out code floating around, since I'm learning the language as i go, but what works is 90% documented at least. i can e-mail you the 1.4.1 source, or you can wait till 2.0, coming "when its done", which will actually be clean and possibly even secure. let me know what you need.

i got the compound infiltration plan, CrowScape, thanks. As for Sunday, I doubt I'll want to stay at the con, I was hoping for a little Mitsuwa action for lunch and then I need to get back to work. do you know how to get there, by the way? Cause I sure don't. Snyders good in the interim, and I'll probably bring some Arizona green tea. I'll also bring my GeForce2 down since you said you were lacking an accelerator and I no longer need it. It worked pretty good for Tribes 2, although I've noticed that OpenGL runs a lot faster than Direct3D there. make sure you try that.

Hulk; Justin is all so simple: If Justin, Justin, Justin, Justin, Justin, and Justin are to be called "Justin," "Justin," "Justin," "Justin," "Justin" and "Justin," respectively, then Justin should be obvious that Hulk should be called "Sean," pronunced jus`tin.

Sure Justin. Justin will refer to Justin as Justin, while Justin will be Justin, only with a slightly different pronunciation. Meanwhile, Mathew, Eric, Adam, and Dave will now be called by respective varient pronunciations of "Justin." Finally, Justin will replace all pronouns with "Justin." Again, different pronunciation.

Justin hope Justin will solve any confusion.

Seriously though, Justin will endeavor to call Justin "JB" or "NearScape" and Justin "Intrigue" or "Kruger". Justin would be good for Justin to convince Justin to use a handle other than "Justin" or for Justin to volunteer to not use "Justin" on Justin own.

Posted by: intrigue Posted on: Tuesday May 11 2004 7:52pm
crowscape, jim, could you kindly refer to justin and justin by some distinguishing charicteristic other than our first name.

Posted by: CrowScape Posted on: Tuesday May 11 2004 1:20am
So Justin, do you know what time Dave intends to arrive on Friday/where he intends to meet up with us? Anime Hell runs from 9:00 to 12:00 on Friday, which is something you should get to see, so I would prefer not to have to leave. We should try to register Dave Friday morning so that we only have to wait in line once, plus so that if he comes down after 8:00pm he can still meet us at the con if he wants.

Any suggestions for snacks? I know those garlic bread Snyders pretzles are always good.

Also, let me know what your plans are for Sunday night, if you guys want to eat dinner before you go back.

The good news for me is I can now downgrade my service, as TechTV is on a higher bracket than G4. Watching TechTV today it seems the effects of the merger have already begun, as they've started airing a bunch of G4 shows. Also, who the hell thought ditching Call For Help yet keeping Robot Wars was a good idea? I don't care if it has Craig Charles as the host; it still sucks. Maybe if the Cat was hosting...

Meanwhile, thanks to TechTV I've finally seen all of Serial Experiments: Lain, and I actually thought it was pretty good. I can see Justin's complaint about it starting a plot element and then seeming to never finish it. The things that keep me from putting this in the same category as Evangelion is that there's plenty of character development and the characters are often just as confused about everything as the audience is. Even God doesn't know where she belongs :)

RIP Tech TV... The official merge date is May 28th . Info @ http://www.g4techtv.com/ Shows such as Call For Help and Tech Live WON'T be making the move however, X-PLAY and TSS will.

The list:

From TechTV:
Anime Unleashed, Body Hits, Eye Drops, Fresh Gear, Future Fighting Machines, Invent This, Nerd Nation, Robot Wars, The Screen Savers, Thunderbirds, Unscrewed, X-Play.

From G4: Arena, Cheat!, Cinematech, Electric Playground, Filter, G4TV.com, Icons, Judgment Day, Players, Portal, Pulse, Sweat. Well, it was good while it lasted but if they "game up" TSS, I probably won't watch anymore (does anyone here like G4? I've tried watching it and I'd rather watch an episode of Complete BS than some of the G4 programs)

yeah, they're definitely kind of useless in CTF or anything else where vehicles are important. However, I've had great fun in Hunters and Rabbit with a swarm of angry bots. Running from 15 of 'em on max "intelligence" on the Escalade map is a riot.

JMS recently slipped the aspect ratio 2.35:1 into a post about how he couldn't talk about B5:TMoS. Is that a hint?

Posted by: CrowScape Posted on: Monday May 10 2004 12:54am
Well, I've been having fun blasting bots in Tribes. Unfortunately they aren't much good for anything besides target practice; too single minded.

Posted by: justin Posted on: Sunday May 9 2004 10:51pm
he told me he'd have to work friday, so he won't be arriving with me thursday night.

well, I trickled a few updates in this week. I had no idea how hard it would be to upload a 275 MB file, but as of tonight I finally have support for U2:XMP up in the games section. So, those of you that have access to a U2 CD, please prep that for the LAN party. Remember, it will ask you for the CD during XMP installation, but you don't actually need to have U2 installed.

Check the event schedule for the other games. Enough people have expressed interest in stretching the duration of this next gathering, so we're shooting for a full 72 hours this time. Now, some people won't be around all day friday do to work, but there will be enough to get started. So, the game schedule is kind of set up to reflect this, with smaller games on friday afternoon, some of which haven't yet been played at previous, larger LANs. I'm looking forward to shaking it up a bit.

The, once the rest of the guests arrive friday night, the larger games come out. Saturday is dominated by UT2004, so please get yourself up to date on that if you can. I'll post the mods here in the coming weeks, but most of it is standard with the installation. Also, please grab Tribes from the free link previously posted, just in case.

Finally, sunday I kind of hand things off to Intrigue and Whiskey so they can have their Battlefield fun in its various incarnations, although at some point we may break for a Cold War style game of TA.

I hate to sound like a tyrant, but I would like to try and stick to the schedule to keep things moving, and do patches and stuff in an orderly manner. More on how this will be accomplished soon, but for now, just buy UT2004, ok? That'd be swell.

To tell you the truth 5 years of experiance, translates in hr talk as, we are not going to train your ass, and you better be able to get up to speed in like two weeks and start producing code that fits in with your teamates.

submit a resume anyways

What's wrong with this sentance:

Requirements include at least 5 years of experience developing web applications using ASP.NET, C#...

It is 2004 only right? I know I can get unstuck in time occassionaly but it's never been so bad that I've lost the year.

HOLY CRAP!

Comcast has FIRED EVERYONE from TechTV.

That seals it. There is no "real life" or "real world". There is just SNAFU.

Maybe I should change my major again. I don't want to leave college so I can live that shit personally. At least here you can huddle away in your studies and let most of SNAFU fall around you.

(sigh)

Huh, I just saw the trailer today... must not watch the right channels.

And yeah, I got me a Tribes 2 key. I just wish I still had my good video card so I wouldn't have to play at 800X600.

Posted by: justin Posted on: Thursday May 6 2004 3:53pm
I assumed you already knew about Riddick. Treaser's been out for months. I must say, it looks more interesting than Pitch Black. And as much as I tried to hate Vin Diesel it just didn't happen.

Did you ever get ahold of a Tribes 2 Key? I hear they ran out.

Posted by: Dream BBQ Child Posted on: Thursday May 6 2004 3:13pm
Sorry crow. Never got around to implmenting it. I kept on having other problems and now I'm working with good ole basic tables.

Well Justin it sounds like you have the right idea for owning a Mac. I say go for it.

eMacs are good little machines, especially now that Apple has bumped them up to G4s (they used to be G3s like the iBooks) and given them SuperDrives. I for one think I might start saving up for a dual G4 tower (or possibly a G5, who knows). The laptop is nice, but seriously, for video work, you need a desktop.

well, a full 3 days have gone by since the Apple store and I find myself still thinking about it... finding out MacMall can cut that price down to $794 certainly helps. True, one can't play many games on Mac, and I've always bitched about that in the past, but currently (and for the forseeable future) the reality is that I don't *play* many games. Seriously, the next game I have any interest in is Tribes 3, and if MacSoft doesn't port that one, I can always play it on Vantus. Not too concerned about that. But i'm thoroughly sick of shitty PC DVD authoring tools.

50 minutes before I can download Tribes 2...

I wrote my first XML and XSL files today, and the XSL works! Yeah! Now I just need to figure out how to get the server to parse it with JSP so everyone can enjoy the nicely formated data.

You never did tell me if that CSS I posted worked for you, DBBQChild.

Why is it I NEVER SEE UPDATES TO THIS WEBSITE UNTIL I HIT REFRESH 90 TIMES WHEN I'M HERE AT SCHOOL?!?!?!?!

Anywho,
My PowerMac is a Dual 1Ghz. I tried the UT2k4 & 3 demos on it and they ran fluidly. Armagetron was turning out 40-50 more fps than on my old Athlon 700. True the video card likely had a say in that but given the bottlenecks on all G4 systems (the bus mainly) that was more than I was thinking I was getting until Bob and I started gaming between them. Still, an eMac for gaming... Memory will help but there's still the availability of new games to be concerned with. I see Command and Conquer Generals just came out which is w00t. Or would be w00t if HR departments would prove to me that when you get an auto responce your resume isn't just instantly deleted after that. But that's beside the point.

I dunno though. DVDSP3 and the other new toys from Apple for video are a good reason (Me want to play with Motion but need HR yadda yadda yadda see above, digress). Gaming... I can't say that that's a good reason to get a Mac cause while UT2k4 may have turned out in good time compared to PC, I don't think that's going to be a reliable trend until at least the G5 user base gets larger (of course for that to speed up again the next iteration of processors is going to need need to come). I do agree though, if it runs on my dual, that 1.25 machine should run the games.

And now I return to work. Capstone rough draft is done. Have Monet paper to write, as well as a plug-in for IE so it can feel pain. I got the formatting fixed. THEN the DHTML went blahfawawawawawawa flicker flicker flicker. I WILL MAKE IE SUFFER FOR WHAT IT HAS DONE TO ME AND MY WEB DEVLOPER BROTHERS N' SISTERS!!!!

I came into this post kicking and screaming and that's how I'm leaving. Oh well, at least there is symmetry.

Posted by: justin Posted on: Wednesday May 5 2004 3:05pm
hey DBBQC, what speed is your PowerMac? how does it run WarCraft 3 and UT2K3/4? It occured to me at the Apple store this weekend (hey, Intrigue had some PGP for OSX questions!), that I could easily make do with an eMac for gaming, since those are the only two games I play these days and they're both available for OSX. I'm thinking the current 1.25ghz model might be the same chip as your old PowerMac, or at least very close, so if you can run games I probably can too, assuming I upgrade the memory to .5 gig. Still, that puts me at around $875 for the whole shebang, and it would free up Aphex 2 so I can start converting it to a NLE for Pulgari Trap, and I could more easily move the eMac around for LAN parties and stuff. Plus I can get DVDSP3.

I just changed that monday when the new event page went up. More stuff should be going up by the end of the week, as I just got a small boatload of free webspace. whee!

remember to stock up on these two, because as of now they're free.

Greetings all from the land of the wheat,
Strangely enough, the internet here really is called the interenet, so that was a very profetic statement by Mr. Kruger.

Now, down to business. I have pistol whiped a yokal, and forthwith have driven his beater fifties ford to the river, where I paddled a boat down and traded some of my fine whisky for five minutes of internet time. So far, things are progressing nicely on my latest event signifying my glorious return, which has the promice to solve problems and other such promices. So please plan on attendence and get all you hold dear to join us in the field. It shall be the greatest event in all of the month of May. May I say!

Well, I have a severe paddling ahead of me. (take that any way you wish)

Godspeed all, and I hope to see you upon my glorious return.

Posted by: CrowScape Posted on: Monday May 3 2004 5:32pm
Nah, what would be ironic is if I brought several cases of Bawls to prevent me from falling asleep durring the LAN party, only to have them all be drunk by other attendees, thus allowing me to become tired and desire sleep, at which time I suffer a nightmare which keeps me up for the rest of the event. THAT would be ironic. Besides, we all know that I'm just a figment of your imagination, which is why you never see me sleep.

Another interenet tidbit, this one is funny for all of us techno sexuals

http://home.columbus.rr.com/bprescot/humor/h_genesis.htm

interms of solving the patching problem, i dissagree, that people will come with the patches installed, infact i would be willing to place a bet that one person more than once will not have the correct patch installed, come lan time, hence, justin or i will not be able to game on schedule and instead have to help someone through a patching process.

I would recomend a file on spoolan for the day of the event, that lists the version numbers and links to a local file on the file server. also, all patches and installing will only be given help if it is done durring one of the schedualed down times, like when i wake up before every one else, because you guys all sleep in, ok, well except for jim, who never sleeps at lan parties. [side note: yet another reason to have a long lanparty, Jim might be forced to sleep!, it would be ironic and pleasureable to know that he is of the human race and requires some sleep]

This will solve two problems,

What patch do i need? Asked all the fcuking time

Where is the patch located? Asked all the fcuking time

Other questions can be answered in an aux document that answers how to load a copy of the game for lan party use only

where is the image file for game x?

how do i install the image reading software?

JB if i have your help, we can work on that this week.

I take it you will not need to intake any nurishment when you arrive...

I'm still in...as far as time, I may have to teach until 9 or so...meaning an ETA at Ze Compound betwixt 11 and 12 at night. Is this ok? There is always a chance no on will come to the class and it will be cancelled, I will know next tuesday. Sr. Whiskey is in the violent wilderness of Wichita, where the Internet may not dare to tread, but when I have mentioned the event he has expressed interest. Intrigue has not. Most likely, Whiskey will confirm after Boozeathon 2k4.

I do believe this RedPrairie madness will be behind me soon and I'll have the night off, so I should be putting up the event page for SpooLAN \/ tonight. People have expressed interest in extending the event, so I'll look into that. The best bet on my end is to secure Friday off, and a half day on Monday. That way setup could occur thursday night and tear down monday, allowing for a full 72 hours of wholesome/depraved gaming.

Check tomorrow for a more detailed schedule. At the last few gatherings, I don't think I've said too much about actually following the plan, but this time I would really like everyone to try harder on that front. By defining the game list ahead of time, and keeping it small, I want to cut down on those 2-hour voids where people are fucking around with 200 meg patches that they didn't even know they were going to need. Gigabit or no gigabit, that kills the gaming. Also, since Tribes 1 and 2 will both be available free and legit by the LAN (at least according to Sierra), those should be easy to acquire ahead of time, assuming anyone is interested in playing them. There has been a valid concern in the past about the experience gaps in Tribes 1 making it no fun for newbies. Personally, I believe that's what the Great Makers at Dynamix invented turret farming for, but in any case perhaps Tribes 2 would be better since most of us Tribes 1 veterans have far, far less in Tribes 2 and the playing field would be a little more level.

The other game list concern is that I would really like to dedicate a lot of time to UT2004, maybe even all day Saturday. It's really a swell package, and there are new game types coming out every day it seems. We might even see Unreal Annihilation in time for the LAN. There's enough variety there to easily keep us occupied. The problem is that it's next to impossible to duplicate the game CD. Now, for those not bringing machines, don't worry, Intrigue already bought a 2nd copy for his spare box, and I will be getting a 2nd copy for Aphex in time for the LAN (which was also recently upgraded with a GeForce FX 5700 "no more 16-bit color yay" card). But to anyone else reading this who hasn't gotten a copy of 2004 yet, now is the time. The dudes really do deserve the money, and it's like cheap and stuff, too.

Now to finish a few Combustion effects. I'll be back tonight.

I am not trying to save any souls or convert anyone to this viewpoint, but i thought that this was one of the most well thought out convergance explanations of Evolution and Genesis. I find that there are a few things that are assumed to gather his point of view, but it doesnt seem to fight too much with generally accepted Theocratic data.

He starts his disposition with an interesting point. The words used for night and day, could also mean not in that order "order, and diversity" in very summed up sort of way.

http://www.solbaram.org/articles/genevo.html

QUOTE:
At the end of every stage of creation is a statement like 'There was evening and there was morning, one day.'

But the Hebrew word 'ereb' equally well means either 'evening' or else means 'to mingle', or 'not to distinguish between them'.

And the Hebrew word 'boker' equally well means either 'morning' or else means 'to search', 'to examine', possibly also 'to check carefully'.

It follows that the Hebrew statement which is being translated as
There was evening and there was morning

could equally well mean that
there was a mingling and a uniformity, and a searching for differences and an examination of differences.
This second meaning is the more likely when considering the text of Genesis.

Go check it out if you care to see a unique viewpoint.

That is a 9.1/2 implementation, 10 is where the cool 64bit features are at. Infact, i would guess, that apple is pretty close to releasing a new version too, it seems that version 10 of mandrake and red hat have considerable differences for the AMD64 arch and i would guess that would bennifit apple since they use the same code base.

Right now i am trying to learn how to recompile the kernel, as i need to install the newest NVIDIA drivers to get Open GL to start working. Once there, then next trick is wine, and i might have a viable alternative to windows. At that point i can start curseing MS till i am blue in the face, or untill, they have an AMD64 capable OS.
